Reach for the Stars!! Pledge-based Fundraiser

The Program Summary

Reach for the Stars!! is a pledge-based reading incentive program that puts books into the hands of children and rewards them for reading, as well as benefiting the organization in the form of cash and/or books.

Program Options

Book Bonanza – 110% of the pledge money is given to the organization in the form of educational books from the Usborne catalog, divided in the following manner:

• 50% in books to participating students

• 60% in books to the classrooms, library and/or
  incentives for children

Fund Raiser Program – 100% of the money is given to the organization in the form of cash and books from the Usborne catalog, divided in the following manner:

• 50% in books is given to the children with pledges

• 30% in CASH is given to the organization

• 20% in books to the classrooms, library and/or
  incentives for children

Both program options offer at least a 100% return!!

The goal of the Program

The goal of the Reach for the Stars!! program is for the children to read, or be read to, for a recommended minimum of 300 minutes over a two-week period. This is an average of 30 minutes per school day. It is also the recommended amount of time that experts encourage for daily reading.

Jim Trelease, author of "The Read-Aloud Handbook", states that book ownership is paramount to reading success.  This program rewards the children who participate with quality Usborne Books.  These award-winning books are designed to peak a child’s curiosity and to make reading fun.

Participant Group Options

Any organized group of children can make this work for them – schools, classrooms, clubs, Girl/Boy Scout Troops, preschools, church groups, and home school groups.
